Alumni Exhibit – Photographer Jacob Martin & Graphic Designer Amy Walock-Hopper Exhibition – 11/28 – 12/16/2016 Posted on October 29, 2016 by adminAlumni Exhibit – Photographer Jacob Martin & Graphic Designer Amy Walock-Hopper Exhibition – 11/28 – 12/16/2016 The community is invited to join us in celebrating the work of the talented alumni featured in the exhibition: Jacob Martin, (Class of 2016, Associates of Applied Science in Visual Communications – Photography) and Amy Wallock-Hopper (Class of 2015, Associates of Applied Science in Visual Communications). Our Alumni have established significant careers and were chosen to represent a diverse range of media. Incorporating graphic design & photographs, the artists create aesthetically diverse works. Artist Statement – Jacob Martin I am Jacob Martin, A large format fine art photographer. I choose to work with traditional methods due to their hands on nature. The idea of creating an image using chemical processes instead of electronic capture is greatly appealing to me. It feels organic and truthful compared to other methods. My images from scene to negative to print, are made entirely without the aid of digital technology. I often enjoy photographing scenes of abandoned buildings and the relics they contain. I often experience feelings of nostalgia when photographing these places that have long since faded from their former glory. Whether it be industrial or residential, each location has a story to tell about what happened after the occupants left. Aside from abandoned locations, nature is often a subject in my photographs. I take great joy in exploring and finding what nature has to offer and creating an image from the scene in front of me. It’s amazing what can be done with a camera, some chemistry, and light. Artist Statement – Amy Wallock-Hopper Specializing in: Graphic Design & Illustration, Web Design, Film & Video and more. Amy began her design journey early in life at the age of 16.
