What area of study are you specializing in?
Visual Communications and Design
-
What or who inspired you to pursue this career?
There were a lot of things that inspired me to pursue my career. The very first thing was watching tutorials on digital drawing and graphic design which sparked my interest in getting involved with these skills and I’m interested to try out more. There are some artists that gave me some inspiration and motivation to be creative and imaginative a lot such as Tyson Hesse and Gary Tonge.
-
When will you graduate? What do you plan to do after graduation?
After I complete all of my courses in Fall 2022, I will graduate in Spring 2023 to earn my degree in Associate of Applied Science. When I am done with Ivy Tech, I will transfer to Indiana University South Bend to earn my bachelor’s degree. Also, I will start my career as a freelance artist and designer who specializes in various forms of art and design such as 2D and 3D animation, 3D modeling and rendering, fractal art, AI art, graphic design, motion graphics, photography, and digital drawing.
-
What is/was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was Basic Photography because I get to understand and learn how to use a digital camera and edit the pictures I took.
-
How much time do you spend studying outside of class? Where is your favorite place to study?
It depends on what I have on my own schedule. My favorite place to study is my office at home.
-
What high school did you attend and if appropriate what kinds of classes prepared you for success in this career?
I attended John Adams High School here in South Bend, Indiana, and graduated in the Summer of 2018. From there, I was in some art classes as well as Computer-Aided Design (CAD), which was the first step in doing graphic design.
-
Do you have any advice for your peers?
My advice is to keep on being creative, stay motivated on your goals, and get inspired to create new things. No matter how hard they can be, you just keep on pursuing your dreams.
-
Is there anything else you wish to share?
Creativity is the key. It has every meaning to help us in everyday life. Even when it involves doing art and design.
