Ivy Tech Community College is proud to announce the inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK), Jr. Legacy Project. This project is an ARTIvism exhibition that honors the legacy of Dr. King. All Ivy Tech students were invited to participate in the exhibit by submitting artwork created to honor the legacy he left behind. ARTIvism combines “art” and “activism” and is created to increase social, environmental and technical awareness of communities through the medium of art.
Eighty students, representing every Ivy Tech region, participated in the juried competition. They created work to address the theme “Moving Forward,” in the spirit of MLK, Jr. Thirty-nine submissions were selected to be in the exhibit. Scholarships were awarded to those students who received the honor of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Those students receiving honors include:
First: Emerald Green – Southwest
Second: Cheryl Collins – Kokomo
Third: Katie Wheeler, Jazz Miller, Jerika Thomas, Noah Brown – Southern Indiana
Ivy Tech Community College is proud to display works of art created by its students across the state. All exhibits are open to the public and can be viewed free of charge.
