The Questions:

What area are you specializing in within Visual Communications? Photography.

What inspired you to pursue a career in Visual Communications? My family. They always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and do my best in everything.

When will you graduate? What do you plan to do after graduation? I will graduate May, 2015. After graduation I plan to either pursue a bachelor’s degree at IUSB, or begin to establish my career as a commercial food photographer. I have yet to decide what route I will take.

What is/was your favorite class and why? I have truly enjoyed all of my classes at Ivy Tech, but my favorite was commercial photography. I loved having time to build my portfolio as I strove to achieve professional results out of my work. Through this class I was able to develop an area of concentration and discover my true passion in photography. I also loved seeing how all of my classmates grew and developed their talent as well.

What high school did you attend and if appropriate what kinds of classes prepared you for success in Vis Com? I was home schooled and had very little previous experience pertaining to my program. Before attending Ivy Tech, I had no training. I just loved using my camera.

Who is your favorite artist and why? I find the gestural drawings by Henry Degas to be very inspiring. I love the way Degas’s loose and free drawing style embodies and captures motion.

What is your favorite advertisement and why? I like the IKEA advertisement with all the cats.  It is simple, yet beautiful. I love seeing how all the cats react when let loose inside the IKEA store.

What is your favorite Adobe Application and how is it used? My favorite adobe application is Photoshop. I shoot the best photographs possible, and then use Photoshop to make further improvements.

Do you have any advice for your fellow designers/artists? Life Quote? Just do your best and try your hardest. That is all anyone can ask of you. Refuse to give up, and one day your perseverance will be rewarded.
